Resources for carers

Here are some resources for those caring for someone with mental health support needs.

WA: Helping Minds

HelpingMinds is a Western Australian based service for supporting those caring for people living with mental health challenges. They have regular free in person and online workshops and groups to learn and connect.

NSW: Mental Health Carers NSW

Mental Health Carers NSW is an advocacy organisation that offers education and workshops as well as a Carer Connections Helpline to assist in connecting people to services and supports in their local area.

VIC: Tandem

Tandem is the Victorian peak body for friends and family supporting people living with mental health issues. They have a support and referral line for general advice and information and can connect carers to support groups in their area.

QLD: Arafmi

Arafmi QLD offers support and education services to people with mental health needs, their families and carers. They have in person and online carer support groups and workshops and can offer advice on navigating NDIS.

SA: Carers SA

Carers SA offer support to carers, information on navigating the NDIS system and organise events to connect carers in South Australia.

TAS: Mental Health Families & Friends

For support, information, education or connection with other support people of people with mental health challenges in Tasmania.

NT: Carers NT

Carers NT support all carers in the Nothern Territory and offer free counselling to carers and advice for services in the NT.

ACT: Carers ACT

Carers ACT offers support to those who care for someone with mental illness. They conduct regular events, offer phone support and can assist in navigating the mental health care system in ACT.

National: SANE

Sane offers information and community forums for people with lived experience of mental health issues or for friends, family and carers who support someone with mental health issues.
