Transforming Families has been developed on lands across the country we know as Australia. We would like to pay specific respect to the Whadjuk Noongar Elders past and present, upon whose lands this site was conceptualised and primarily created.
Additionally, we’d like to recognise trans Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander advocates and workers and acknowledge the work they have done and continue to do within trans communities.
Stones (they/them) is a non-binary digital artist based in Menang Noongar Land/Albany, Western Australia. Stones has kindly contributed the logo and illustrations on this site and is available for commission work. To contact Stones and view their work, please visit their website.
The development and evaluation of Transforming Families was generously funded by Healthway, the Western Australian Health Promotion Foundation.
The Transforming Families website is an invaluable tool containing helpful, practical information for families like ours who are supporting their children through their transition. I am sure it will be of comfort to trans kids, their families, friends, relatives, schools and other allies.
Transforming Families is a wonderful online resource for all people - for those with transitioning/questioning family members, schools, employers or members of the public wishing to learn more.
There are answers here on the website to all the many, many questions I had in those early months and years as a new and confused trans parent. Navigating this journey as a family would have been so much easier for us all with access to this extensive information and resources. 'Transforming Families' is undoubtedly a game-changer.
